SAS Airlines introduced the Airbus A320 aircraft on the Copenhagen to Dublin route for the first time this evening as OY-KAL A320-232 c/n 2883 ex VT-INC operated SAS2537/8, the airline plans to lease 12 Airbus A320s to replace 17 MD80s pending delivery of A320neo family aircraft from 2016 , the carrier already operates 12 A320 family aircraft four A319s and eight A321-200s from its Copenhagen base.
The airline operates a mix of Airbus A320 Family and MD80 aircraft on the Copenhagen-Dublin route.
SAS Airlines announced plans to re-structure its short-haul fleet around two aircraft types from 2015, the Airbus A320 family at the base in Copenhagen and Boeing 737NG at the bases in Stockholm and Oslo.
In 2011 the airline announced an order for 30 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft. SAS has been a customer of Airbus since 1980 and today operates 23 Airbus aircraft, including: 7 A340s; 4 A330s and 12 A320 Family aircraft.
SAS Airlines operates schedule services from Dublin Airport Terminal 1 to Copenhagen, Oslo-Gardermoen and Stockholm, and interline agreement with Aer Lingus between UK and Ireland when connecting onwards with SAS, to Scandinavia and beyond.
