Ryanair commenced operartions at its new year-round base at Dubrovnik Airport on 2 April basing two Boeing 737-8-200 ‘Gamechager’ aircraft SP-RZE msn 62323, SP-RZM msn 62340 operated by Buzz in an $200 million investment. Dubrovnik becomes Ryanair’s third Croatian base in addition to the long-standing Zadar base and recently-opened Zagreb base.
Dubrovnik Airport CEO Viktor Šober stated, “We are pleased that Ryanair has opened its new base at Ruđer Bošković Airport with two of its aircraft, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees who have been actively working on this project for the past months and have done an excellent job in cooperation with Ryanair. We now face a challenging season that will probably be record-breaking, and there is a lot of work ahead of us.”
The carrier will operate a total of 18 routes, including 16 new routes to Bergamo, Bari, Berlin, Brussels Charleroi, Dusseldorf Weeze , Helsinki, London Stansted, Memmingen,Milan Bergamo, Paris Beauvais, Oslo Torp,Ponzon ,Rome, Stockholm & Wroclaw and increase frequencies on existing routes to Dublin and Vienna, operating 54 weekly flights, delivering 600,000 passengers in first 12 months creating 500 new jobs.
Ryanair is the only major European airline to significantly grow traffic post-Covid, particularly in Croatia. Ryanair will grow traffic to c. 4 million annual passengers (a +450% increase in traffic vs. pre-Covid), in line with its plans to grow to 300m passengers p.a. by 2034 as Ryanair takes delivery of a further 400 aircraft (incl. 300 Boeing MAX-10 aircraft).
