Ryanair announced significant expansion of its German route network launching a string of new routes from Cologne, Leipzig and Nuremberg, weeks after adding Dortmund its network as the carrier continues to strategically launch new routes, created by on-going airline consolidation create new opportunities.
The airline announced expansion of its Cologne route network, launching two new routes to Faro and Malaga commencing 24th March 2013 operating four times weekly carrying 340,000 passengers per annum, adding to existing routes to Girona and Palma. In summer 2013 Ryanair will operate a total of 24 weekly flights.
At Leipzig/Halle its launching two new routes to Faro and Pisa Florence commencing in April 2013 delivering 200,000 passengers per annum.
Nuremberg becomes the latest airport to be added to its network with six new routes to commence in March 2013 to Alicante, Cagliari, London Stansted, Malaga, Pisa Florence and Porto operating 20 weekly flights which could deliver 280,000 passengers per annum.
Nuremberg Airport CEO, Karl-Heinz Kruger said “We are delighted to be extending our existing portfolio of scheduled flights and attractive tourist destinations with this new addition of Ryanair flights.”
Ryanair Deputy CEO Michael Cawley said “Ryanair is delighted to announce 6 new Nuremberg routes to/from Alicante, Cagliari, London, Malaga, Pisa and Porto beginning in March 2013. Ryanair’s 280,000 passengers p.a. will sustain up to 280 “on-site” jobs at Nuremberg Airport”.
