Ryanair announced its launching two new Oslo Torp to Girona route operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 2nd April 2013 and a new route to Parma in Northern Italy and re-launch Summer seasonal routes from the 1st April to Alicante , Alghero, Bergamo, Bremen, Pisa Florence, Bergamo, Pescera, Malaga and Palma.
The carrier celebrated a major milestone today carrying its 12th millionth passenger from Norway since commencing operations with a single route from London Stansted to Oslo Torp in 1997.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said “In just over 15 years, Ryanair carried a total of 12 million passengers to and from Norway. These passengers have saved more than 840 million Euro by choosing Ryanair’s low fares rather than SAS’s expensive ticket prices, fuel taxes and strikes. Ryanair will carry over 2.5 million passengers via Haugesund, Rygge and Torp annually, maintain 2,500 jobs and support Ryanair’s commitment and importance to Norwegian tourism”.
The Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary confirmed the airline is in talks with Norwegian’s airport authority Avinor to expand operations in Norway within one to next three years, but expresses interest in domestic flights to and from Oslo Rygge.
In Norway Ryanair currently operates from Haugesund, Oslo Rygge (Base) and Olso Torp to 63 destinations carrying 2.5 million passengers annually, and operates from Dublin to Oslo Rygge four times weekly.
