Norwegian Air Shuttle has taken delivery of EI-LNA Boeing 787-8 c/n 35304 Hex Code 4CAAF8 in Sonja Henie livery, the aircraft using call-sign “Norwegian 1A” arriving in Oslo Gardermoen this morning from Paine Field.

On Thursday 28th June Boeing ,International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) and Norwegian celebrated several milestones during a delivery ceremony. It was the first 787 delivered to ILFC and its lessee, Norwegian, which will operate the airplane. The 787 also marked the 700th airplane Boeing delivered to ILFC.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner said “This is a tremendous milestone for Norwegian, an industry leader in its market. Norwegian gains a significant competitive advantage by operating its long-haul routes with this airplane.”

ILFC Chief Executive Officer Henri Courpron said “We’re proudly celebrating delivery of ILFC’s first Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Norwegian Air Shuttle, our launch customer for the aircraft.”

Norwegian Air Shuttle CEO Bjørn Kjos said “This is an important step towards strengthening our position in the market to ensure competitiveness in the future. Both our many customers and we at at Norwegian have been looking forward to this for a long time. I’m convinced that our customers will appreciate this brand new aircraft. Our goal is to operate the most environmentally friendly and cost-efficient fleet, something the Dreamliner will significantly contribute towards.”

The 787 will operate selected routes are between Oslo and London, Alicante, Malaga, Nice and Barcelona from July 4 to August 4, prior to launching new long-haul routes from from Oslo and Stockholm to New York and Bangkok and Fort Lauderdale from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Norwegian currently has eight 787s on order through lease agreements and direct deliveries.
