Maharashtra Mandal Ireland official Facebook page announced the organization has submitted a formal request to India’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Hon. Mr. Murlidhar Anna Mohol, to seek a direct service between Ireland and India stating “For a long time, the crucial issue of starting a direct flight service from Ireland to India has been pending. “
Hon. Mr. Murlidhar Anna Mohol, accepted this request and assured Maharashtra Mandal Ireland , that discussions will be held regarding the initiation of a direct flight service in the future. This service will undoubtedly benefit over 95,000 Indians in Ireland, especially the elderly, parents, and students and as well as visiting family and friends and business links between the two countries.
Ireland’s Ambassador to India, Brendan Ward told The New Indian Express in 2023 that “We are hoping that in 2023 Air India would commence direct flights to Dublin. With them revamping their services, and a large Indian diaspora, it would be great to have a direct flight which will take less than nine hours – from the over 14 hours it takes at present as we have to take connecting flights.’’
Indian carriers operate code-share partnership to access Irish market. IndiGo operates a code-share agreement with Turkish Airlines connecting over its Istanbul hub and Vistara operates a code-share agreement with Lufthansa connecting its Frankfurt Main hub.
