Kerry Airport saw a remarkable 2024, handling a total of 417,409 passengers by the end of December. This marks the third-highest passenger traffic in the airport’s history, underscoring its continued importance for the region and Wild Atlantic Way.
Kerry Airport CEO John Mulhern, said, “The expected completion of the new Arrivals Hall and Departures Lounge in the summer. The development has been undertaken due to growing demand and to ensure that everyone who travels through Kerry Airport has a comfortable and positive experience. Our mission, in fact, is to be the greatest little regional airport in the world.”
Rhe Kerry-Dublin route saw a modest increase of 3.8%, with 114,447 passengers flying between the Kingdom and the Irish capital, compared to 110,255 in 2023. This continued growth is a positive indicator of the route’s enduring popularity.
Some routes saw a reduction in frequency, particularly those to the UK and Frankfurt Hahn, Germany. These changes contributed to a decrease in passenger numbers on these routes, with the UK destinations seeing a 2.4% drop and Frankfurt Hahn experiencing a 18.9% decline.
The airport’s performance remained strong. A total of 211,723 passengers flew between Kerry and key UK destinations such as London Stansted, London Luton, and Manchester. Meanwhile, 32,326 passengers travelled to and from Frankfurt Hahn.
The summer months were particularly successful for Kerry Airport, with an 11.2% rise in passengers on sun routes to popular destinations like Spain, Portugal, and France. This increase brought the total number of summer sun passengers to 61,641, reflecting a strong demand for leisure travel from the region.
