AerCap Delivers First of Two New Airbus A350 XWB Aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines
AerCap Holdings N.V. announced the delivery of a new Airbus A350-900 to Ethiopian Airlines, the first of two new A350-900 aircraft deliveries on long-term lease to Ethiopian Airlines from AerCap’s order book with Airbus. The aircraft was transferred to Ethiopian Airlines at a ceremony in the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse, and is the first A350 XWB aircraft to be delivered to an African carrier. A second new A350-900 aircraft is scheduled for delivery to Ethiopian Airlines in August 2016. AerCap has one of the largest Airbus A350 XWB portfolios with a total of four owned and another 25 on order aircraft – one of the most in-demand aircraft in the world.
AerCap says Brexit will not impact its aircraft leasing
Aircraft leasing giant AerCap is not worried about the impact on its business of Britain voting to leave the European Union because it and other leasing companies can move airplanes around in times of crisis, a senior executive said. “I think it is too early for us or anyone else to opine on how Brexit is going to play out,” Philip Scruggs, AerCap’s president and chief operating officer, told Reuters.
Aviation Finance Company reaches $6.5 billion of financing with eight sale-leaseback for Emirates
Aviation Finance Company (AFC), a Stellwagen Group company headquartered in Dublin, has now completed over $6.5 billion of financing with the sale and leaseback of its eighth A380-800 to Emirates. This will be the second A380 that will be owned by Stellwagen. Since its foundation three years ago, AFC has financed the delivery of aircraft for both airlines and leasing companies. Seraph Aviation Management, a Stellwagen Group company, will provide lease management services for the term of the lease.
AWAS delivers final of four planned new A320 passenger aircraft to long-time customer VivaAerobus
AWAS announced that it has delivered the final of four planned new A320 passenger aircraft to its customer, VivaAerobus, purchasing the aircraft the airline had previously ordered from the manufacturer and then placing it with them on a long term lease. The delivery of this new A320s from a PLB deal agreed in 2015 is part of the on- going rollover of the VivaAerobus fleet into an all-A320 operator. The AWAS fleet at VivaAerobus, which includes a number of 737-300s being gradually phased out with AWAS’ assistance, now grows to six IAE-powered A320s.
Cityjet taps EDC financing for eight CRJ900s
Cityjet has tapped financing from Export Development Canada (EDC) to fund the delivery of eight Bombardier CRJ900s, an unmamed source told Airfinance Journal. EDC provided financing of 80% of the value of the aircraft. Four of eight of the aircraft have already been delivered this year. The remaining four aircraft will deliver in February and March 2017.
GE Capital Aviation Services Delivers New Leased Boeing 737-800 to Air China
GE Capital Aviation Services Limited (GECAS) announced delivery of a new leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft powered by CFM engines to Air China. Earlier this year, GECAS delivered another leased Boeing 737-800 to Air China. Both were part of GECAS’ existing order book with Boeing. Air China is a longstanding GECAS customer.
