Icelandair announced signature of two codeshare agreements at the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik on October 17 2024 , with Air Greenland and Atlantic Airways. With these agreements, the airlines will provide great connections between Greenland and the Faroe Islands and North America and Europe, in one ticket through Icelandair’s hub at Keflavik Airport.

Icelandair CEO Bogi Nils Bogason, said “What we have in common is that we are all island nations that rely on efficient air transport to connect with the world and for the prosperity of our countries. By joining forces and formalizing our partnerships, we will further strengthen air connectivity in the West-Nordic region and in the Arctic, which is an important foundation for future development in this part of the world. We are also pleased to connect Greenland and the Faroe Islands to our extensive sales and distribution networks in North America, Europe and in other global markets, such as Asia, and thereby further promoting these great tourist destinations. The Arctic Circle has established itself as one of the most important forums in the world on the Arctic and by hosting its annual Assembly here, Iceland has become a center for discussion about the Arctic. It is therefore a pleasure to sign these agreements here today.”

The codeshare flights are expected to be fully implemented in the first quarter 2025 for Icelandair and Atlantic Airways, and in the middle of next year for Icelandair and Air Greenland.
