The Ryanair Group has added a former Boeing 737-800 aircraft registered EI-EVX msn 40317 back into its Ryanair DAC fleet, increasing its total group fleet to 410 B737NG aircraft.
The aircraft was Ferried Kaunas (KUN) to London Stansted on 8th February entering revenue service next day operating its first sector to Bremen (BRE) RYR9509/10.
According to Planespotters.net Ryanair returned the aircraft to Dublin based lessor SMBC Aviation Capital in March 2021. The aircraft was subsequently allocated for lease to Air Europa which was not taken up in 2022 being stored in Ostrava.
On Ryanair Holdings plc Q2 2023 Earnings Conference Call on 7 November Group CEO Michael O’Leary stated “We’ve done a deal for one additional NG that’s being offered back to us, that we used to operate on an operating lease. We’ve got a long-term low-cost lease rate on that”
In fact, I use the example, one of the aircraft we returned off an operating lease 2 years ago has now been offered back to us at a very significant discount. And we will opportunistically add aircraft in ones and twos where 737 sort of NGs, where there’s a kind of a financial intent to do so.”
