Flybe has announced that it is to launch a new route from it’s Manchester Base to Ireland West Knock operating four times weekly, with effect from the 30th of October using DHC8-400s filing the void in the market left when Bmibaby axes the route in the 30th of October as part of a re-structuring its operation to focus on the core East Midlands market, namely Birmingham and East Midlands.
In the era of high fuel costs with oil at $118 per barrel, turboprops ATR72 and DHC8-400s are experiencing strong customer demand, enabling carriers to enter and remain in the markets, to large to justify a A320/B737.
This is the second Flybe route into Ireland West Knock, with the carrier operating a route to Edinburgh ,which has been operating three times weekly since the 19th of April, the new Manchester route, will further enhance the Flybe brand presence in the West of Ireland, with the route to appeal to the large VFR market of Mayo community in the Manchester region, also it should prove popular with football fans, and enhance business links between the West of Ireland and Manchester.
