Irish budget carrier Ryanair has taken delivery of the first of 210 Boeing 737-8-200 aircraft on order in contract valued at valued at over $22 billion at list pricing. The first aircraft registered EI-HEN Boeing 737-8-200 msn 62301 callsign ‘Ryanair 82MO’ was delivered Boeing Field to Dublin on Wednesday 16th June touching down 1759 local.
The aircraft operated its first revenue on 23rd June from Dublin to London Stansted as RYR272 to be based in Stansted.
The Boeing 737 8-200 aircraft is fitted with 197 economy class seats 4% more than the 737-800 with the airframe is 2.2 meters longer than the A320neo. The aircraft will be configured with Boeing Sky Interior, LED lighting and larger pivoting overhead stowage bins delivering 16% lower fuel consumption per seat than the 737-800 aircraft with 5% lower operating costs than 737 MAX 8.
Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said “We are delighted to take delivery of our first new technology Gamchanger aircraft. These new Boeing 737 aircraft will help Ryanair lower costs, cut fuel consumption and lower noise and CO2 emissions as we invest heavily in new technology to deepen our environmental commitment as Europe’s greenest, cleanest major airline. Each B737 aircraft offers 197 seats (compared to our 189-seat current 737 fleet). However, our customers will enjoy more leg room, new Boeing “Sky Interiors” and lower fares, while reducing their environmental footprint by switching to these new aircraft”.
The Ryanair Group expects to take delivery of over 50 Boeing 737-8-200 aircraft between now and Summer 2022.
Ryanair stated in June 2018 SEC 20F filing that “The new aircraft will be used on new and existing routes to grow Ryanair’s business”.
