SAS Airlines (Ireland) has taken delivery of EI-SIF Airbus A320-251N c/n 8109 on 12 April to Stockholm Arlanda from Airbus in Hamburg Finkenwerder. This is the sixth Airbus to join the SAS Airlines (Ireland) fleet.
On the 10 April the parent company SAS Airlines Group placed an order for 50 Airbus A320Neo’s for delivery between 2019 and 2023 replacing current Airbus A320ceo’s and Boeing 737NG aircraft enabling the carrier to operate a single short-haul fleet.
The first 15 new Airbus A320neos, with deliveries from the spring of 2019 through 2021, have been secured through declarations of intent with aircraft lessors. The remaining 35 Airbus A320neos are planned to be delivered directly by Airbus up to 2023.
The Airbus A320neo has 15–20 percent lower jet-fuel consumption per seat kilometer compared to the aircraft being phased out of traffic. The aircraft will be equipped with SAS’s high-speed WiFi and new cabin interiors.
