Delta Airlines has launched a scheduled cargo-only flight between New York JFK and Dublin with effective from 1st November in response to consumer demand. The flight operates three-times weekly operated by an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, to carry essential pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical supplies and general cargo.
The carrier has approved the DoKaSch Opticooler RAP container for use on its aircraft as part of its cold chain pharma program for the safe transportation of vaccines. The high-end, state-of-the-art climate-control solution offers pharmaceutical and life science companies a controlled and reliable 2-8 degrees Celsius and 15-25 degrees Celsius options, enabling it to be used for Pharma 1 transportation including vaccines, without the need for dry ice.
Delta’s Vice President – Cargo Shawn Cole stated “Given the travel constraints within Europe, we are strategically adding cargo capacity in Spain, Ireland and Germany to support overall passenger and cargo growth.”
Delta Cargo launched a Cargo Charter operation in March by working primarily with Delta’s established world-leading logistics partners. The carrier has operated over 1,600 cargo charter flights since February and is now averaging more than 20 cargo-only flights globally each week, carrying medical and PPE equipment, pharmaceuticals, U.S. mail, home office supplies and food.
