Bombardier Aerospace has completed its flight-test campaign for the Global 8000 and is now focusing on validation and demonstration flights. The aircraft, C-GLBG (msn 70005), was stationed at Shannon Airport, Ireland, from February 14th to 20th.
During this time, it conducted two Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) test flights to and from Salzburg, Austria, on February 17th and 18th. After these European operations, the flight test vehicle returned to the Bombardier Flight Test Centre in Wichita.
This milestone in flight and operations validation comes as Bombardier prepares for the Global 8000’s entry into service later this year. The aircraft, which has already been tested beyond the sound barrier, is set to become the world’s fastest civilian aircraft since the Concorde, with a top speed of Mach 0.94.
