On the afternoon of Thursday 19 July C-GIAU Bombardier CRJ900 c/n 15243 Bombardier Aerospace touched at Dublin Airport in full Delta Connection (ASA – Atlantic Southeast Airlines) colours from the Farnbourgh Air Show to demonstrate its new Atmosphere cabin to Cityjet.

Delta Air Lines is the launch customer for the new Atmosphere cabin having signed a firm purchase agreement for 20 CRJ900 aircraft in a contract valued at US$961 million at list price with first aircraft schedule for delivery in later this year.

The Atmosphere cabin has a number of unique features a wider entrance for easy boarding, Full LED lighting with option of mood lighting , redesigned overhead bins provide an additional 4.5” of shoulder space, new translucent business/economy class divider,  larger windows increasing natural light. The cabin is enabled for in-flight connectivity and in-seat power. The CRJ Series is the first and only regional aircraft to offer a PRM (Passenger with Reduced Mobility) lavatory option.

Cityjet operates a fleet of 23 Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft on wet-lease to SAS Airlines and is to acquire a further six aircraft to enable the carrier to expand its growing wet-leasing operation.

This week Air Nostrum and CityJet have announced the signing of a heads of terms with the aim to bring about closer co-operation between the two airlines under the umbrella of a new holding company.  Air Nostrum operates a fleet of 40 CRJ family and Cityjet 23 CRJ900 aircraft which will give the combined group greater efficiencies , purchasing power and scale.

Bombardier Aerospace Belfast designs and manufactures the complete centre fuselage for the CRJ700, CRJ900 and CRJ1000 aircraft and engine nachelles and wing components for the CRJ900 aircraft.  Every 10 seconds a CRJ900 takes off somehere across the globe.
