This year is set for another record capacity growth between Ireland and North American as capacity will be 13% ahead of last summer, as strong growth will be driven from existing carriers by a mix increasing capacity and frequency on existing routes and new services are added to Halifax and Los Angeles.
Dublin Airport is the sixth largest airport in Europe for services to North America, with 318 flights per week (159 weekly departures) between Dublin and 15 destinations in the United States and Canada this summer. The only European airports with better transatlantic connectivity than Dublin will be the major hubs of Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris CDG.
Aer Lingus will launch a new early morning service and late evening return service between Dublin and New York JFK using a Boeing 757-200 damp-leased from ASL Aviation. From 8th June to 30th August two Boeing 757s will be based in Dublin.
Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa said “With daily services to both Atlanta and New York-JFK, this summer, Delta will be offering more than 6,300 weekly seats between Ireland and the United States. Last year was one of the highest-ever for U.S. visitor numbers to Ireland and with around 70% of American tourists arriving between May and September, our Atlanta flight responds to this spike in demand”.
For the first US Carrier US Airways will deploy an Airbus A330-200 on it’s seasonal service between Dublin and Charlotte and year-round between Dublin and Philadelphia.
Resumed Services:
American Airlines daily Boeing 757-200ER service from Dublin to New York JFK resumed on 29th March.
Delta Airlines resumed service between Dublin and Atlanta on 30th March operating five times weekly, increasing to a daily service on 1st June with a 225 seat Boeing 767-300ER.
United Airlines daily Boeing 757-200ER service from Belfast International to Newark resumed on 11th March.
United Airlines daily Boeing 757-200ER service from Dublin to Washington Dulles resumed on 4th March.
US Airways increases capacity on Dublin to Philadelphia from Boeing 757-200 to 258 seat Airbus A330-200 on 30th March.

Aer Lingus increases frequency from Dublin to Orlando from three to four times weekly and San Franicso from five times weekly to a daily service.
Aer Lingus will increase capacity on Shannon to Boston with lease of a Boeing 767-200ER from Omni Air International from 8th June to 30th August.
Aer Lingus will add an additional early morning service from Dublin to New York JFK using a Boeing 757-200 from 8th June to 30th August.
Air Canada Rouge adds four additional weekly Boeing 767-300ER frequencies between 13th June and 16th September.
American Airlines resumes daily Boeing 767-300ER service from Dublin to Chicago O’Hare on 8th May
American Airlines resumes seasonal service from Shannon to Philadelphia from 8th May to 1st October using Boeing 757-200ER.
American Airlines will use an Airbus A330-200 on Dublin to Charlotte daily from 8th May.
Delta Airlines resumes seasonal service between Shannon and New York JFK from 2nd May to 30th September using Boeing 757-200ER aircraft.
United Airlines resumes seasonal Boeing 757-200ER service from Shannon to Chicago from 22nd May to 14th September.
Westjet resumes daily Boeing 737-700 service from Dublin to St Johns on 1st May to 26th October.

Ethiopian Airlines launches a new Boeing 787-8 service from Dublin to Los Angeles operating three times weekly from 20th June.
Europe Airpost launches a new weekly Boeing 737-700 service from Dublin to Halifax from 9th July to 11th September.
United Airlines launches new daily Boeing 757-200ER service from Dublin to Chicago from 5th June to 18th August.
