Aer Lingus Regional operated by Aer Arann is to increase frequency on the Dublin to Cardiff route from 1st July from 14 to 17 services per week with the addition of extra flights on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays due to strong customer demand on the route. In 2012 over 60,000 passengers used the route.
To facilitate business traffic on the route from the 1st July the first flight will depart Dublin Airport at 0650, the route also facilitates onward connections to the United States via Dublin to Boston, Chicago, New York JFK and Orlando connecting passengers to benefit from the US Customs and Immigration clearance facilities arriving as domestic passengers.
Aer Arann Chief Commercial Officer Simon Fagan said “We are delighted to increase the frequency of our popular Cardiff – Dublin service offering our customers even better regional and transatlantic connectivity and greater value this summer. Aer Lingus Regional is committed to regional connectivity and to promoting tourism by providing the most direct and easy links between the regions of the UK and Ireland.”
Cardiff Airport Head of Air Service Development and Commercial Operations Spencer Birns said “It’s great to see Aer Lingus Regional recognising the demand for an increased service on such an important route which is vital for both business and tourism connectivity between Ireland and Wales. The US link is a great benefit to Welsh travellers who will find the service to be a much more convenient, hassle-free and a more cost effective way of travelling.”
