Aer Lingus received its seventh Airbus A320neo, registered EI-NSG “St Dervilla,” on March 10th. The aircraft, an A320-251N (msn 12462), arrived from Toulouse using flight number EIN2533 at 17:15 local time. The aircraft commenced commercial service on March 15th, operating EIN174/5 to London Heathrow. The 186-seat aircraft will bolster Aer Lingus’ short-haul fleet, primarily serving London Heathrow and European routes.
The A320neo features fuel-saving Sharklets and is capable of operating with a 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend, with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030. The Sharklets contribute to a 4% fuel burn reduction and an approximate 900-tonne annual CO2 emission reduction per aircraft.
Aer Lingus is bolstering its fleet with next-generation Airbus aircraft, currently operating 17 neo-family aircraft, representing 30% of its 56-strong fleet. This includes seven A320neos, eight A321neo-LRs, and two A321neo-XLRs. The airline’s expansion plans continue in 2025 with the delivery of an additional A320neo, registration EI-NSH, and four A321XLRs: EI-XLU (msn 12412), EI-XLV (msn 12248), EI-XLW (msn 12463), and EI-XLX (msn 12549).
