Aer Lingus announced further expansion of its North American route network in 2025 adding a new service from its Dublin Hub to Indianapolis commencing 3 May 2025, operating year-round four times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with a short break in winter shoulder, using brand new Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The carrier will enable seamless connections to 20 destinations beyond Dublin hub to major cities in Europe and the United Kingdom, including Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Manchester and Rome.
Aer Lingus’ Chief Executive Officer Lynne Embleton, said “With Indianapolis’ vibrant industries and rich cultural heritage, and Dublin’s strategic position as a gateway to Europe, this new route will facilitate partnerships and opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic. The direct connection will ensure smoother travel for business and leisure travellers while also strengthening cultural and commercial ties between the two regions. The route will be operated by a new Airbus A321XLR aircraft, offering greater fuel efficiency, comfort and the latest in-flight technology for customers.”
Indianapolis Airport Authority’s executive director Mario Rodriguez, said “Today is further proof of our commitment to bring Indiana to the world, by making air travel convenient whether it’s doing business, visiting loved ones, or experiencing new places domestically or internationally. And our team has done that once again by diligently pursuing crucial industry conversations and transforming those into a community-wide effort that includes state, city, civic and corporate partners.”
Air service analysis shows an average of 545 people travel from the Indianapolis area to European destinations daily. By attracting Indiana’s new year-round transatlantic flight, the IAA estimates that this new air service could have a more than $50 million annual impact on Indiana’s economy.
The strategic economic connections between Indiana and Ireland, the recent news of Eli Lilly’s $1.8 billion investment into their two Irish facilities truly emphasizes the growing demand for a nonstop flight from Indy to Dublin. Additionally, Indiana is home to 52 Ireland-based businesses.
