Canadian carrier WestJet Monday 29 April resumed seasonal service between direct service between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Dublin operating five times weekly using three class 320 seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, as part of its expanded European network for Summer 2024.
C-GUDO Boeing 787-9 msn 64976 operated first service WJA6 touching down 1026 local departing 1416 local as WJA5.
To mark occasion The Calgary Airport Authority and Tourism Ireland held a joint gate event to celebrate 10 years of flying to Dublin. In an Linkedin post WestJet stated “It’s been an incredible journey, fostering connectivity between Canada and Dublin over the past decade. Here’s to many more years of strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories together! #FillYourHeartWithIreland #WestJet #TravelTuesday #10YearsStrong.”
WestJet commenced Dublin to Toronto daily on 2 March and am new service four times weekly Halifax starts on 20 June using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Ireland and Canada have strong and enduring cultural and business links, about 14% of Canada’s population is of Irish descent. Calgary is one of five Canadian destinations served directly from Dublin Airport this summer joining Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, Halifax.
