Aer Lingus is ceasing it’s six times weekly Cork-London Gatwick route operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft from 26th October, the route commenced on 6th March 2010. The route closure was result of continuous review of the route network to maximize profitability of the route portfolio.
The Cork Chamber CEO Conor Healy said “It is a very important connection to a major London airport. This will reduce travel options for business people and leisure users. While I know Ryanair will continue to operate the route this will reduce competition. This was not just a point to point route but (Gatwick) provided people with significant onward connectivity “.
Aer Lingus operates Cork to London Heathrow four times daily and Ryanair to London Gatwick daily & London Stansted three times daily.
On 28th October Aer Lingus launches Belfast City to London Gatwick three times daily.
