Aer Lingus announced it carried 989,000 passengers in September down 3%.
On Long-haul it carried 108,000 passengers up 11.3% with a load factor of 88.7% down 2 points on an 14.7% increase in capacity.
On short-haul it carried 775,000 passengers down 6.5% with a load factor of 77.7% down 3.7 points on a 4.6% reduction in capacity, as many summer seasonal unwind during the month, the figures reflected the negative impact of the summer heatwave on bookings.
Aer Lingus Regional operated by Aer Arann carried 106,000 passengers up 14% reflecting expansion to Dublin-Birmingham & Manchester and the start of a second year on Dublin-London Southend route.
Aer Lingus Regional has carried 836,000 passengers so far this year.
Year to date the airline carried 8.319 million passengers up 1.1%.
Compared to the Association of European Airlines as whole, the Aer Lingus passenger load factor was very similar both on short-haul routes (77.7% v 78.7%) and North Atlantic routes (88.7% v. 87.9%).
