Icelandair has commenced it’s seasonal Christmas shopping flights between Dublin and Keflavik using Boeing 757-200. The flights operate twice weekly in conjunction with Icelandair Group subsidiary Vita offering 3 night flight and accommodation packages in Dublin. Irish tour operators sell packages to Keflavik creating bi-directional traffic on the route.
Since 1990 charter services have been operated from Aukureyri and Keflavik to Dublin by a number of carriers including Air Atlanta using Boeing 747s, Atlantsflug / Atlantic Island Air using Boeing 727-200s, Icelandair Boeing 737-400s.
Icelandair has no scheduled services between Dublin and Reykjavik but serves Glasgow and London Heathrow enabling passengers to connect over it’s hub to a growing route network in Canada and United States.
Icelandic carrier Iceland Express announced plans to launch a new route between Dublin and Reykjavik in 2011, due to economic conditions the route was put on hold. The carrier was subsequently acquired by Wow Air in October 2012.
Europe Airpost a member of the ASL Aviation Group operated a series of flights between Dublin and Keflavik in Summer 2012.
