Dublin Airport Friday 12 April hosted a rare visit of an Spanish Air Force Airbus A310-304 T.22-2 for a diplomatic meeting between Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Simon Harris and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at Irish Government Buildings. T.22-2 callsign ‘AME4587’ touched down on runway 28L at 1529 local from Oslo Gardermoen departing runway 28R at 1852 local to Madrid.
Planespotters.net data reveals the aircraft was delivered as F-GEMQ to Air France on 13 February 1991. The aircraft was sold to Fuerza Aerea Española (Spanish Air Force) taking up temporary registration F-WEMQ on 13 May 2002 prior to VIP conversion. On 3 December 2003 took official military registration T.22-2. upon delivery.
The 45th Air Force Group (45 Grupo de Fuerzas Aéreas) is a unit of the Spanish Air Force responsible for air transportation of the Spanish royal family, the Prime Minister and high-ranking government officials. The 45th operates two Airbus A310-304 aircraft one is intended for transportation of the King and his family and the other for the travel of the Prime Minister.
