Scottish carrier introduced its new 48 seat ATR42-300 on its three times weekly Glasgow-Donegal route effective Saturday 8 July, increasing capacity by 45% replacing Saab 340 aircraft, as part of a multi-million pound fleet upgrade.
G-LMSA ATR42-300 msn 1213 Loganair LM203 arrived Donegal (CFN) 1646 local departing 1736 as LM204. This aircraft has an Irish connection as formerly operated as EI-GEV by Stobart Air in Aer Lingus Regional colours named ‘St. Ita / Íde’. The aircraft is owned by Limerick based aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC).
Loganair CEO Jonathan Hinkles said “This is a major milestone in Loganair’s investment plans to renew our fleet, and it futureproofs the essential air links to Scotland’s island communities which is Loganair’s privilege to serve. Investment in new equipment has been undertaken by Loganair on a purely commercial basis and without recourse to public subsidy.”
As part of a pre-planned move with Glasgow Airport, the ATRs will operate from Gates 15 and 16 (where the parking stands can accommodate the new aircraft’s larger wingspan).
Loganair clients will benefit from an improved cabin experience including larger overhead luggage storage, four-abreast seating, and a quieter, more comfortable flight, increased hold capacity also supports Loganair’s carriage of pets.
Next month the aircraft will operate selected services between Glasgow and the City of Derry.
