Air France operated its Airbus A318 first service (AFR1094/1095) to Cork Airport to and from Paris CDG on 6 April using F-GUGM Airbus A318-111 msn 02750. The Airbus A318 is widely known in aviation industry as ‘Baby Bus’. The day previously 5 April its larger sister type operated F-GRHK Airbus A319-111 msn 01190operated AFR1094/1095 service.
Due to increased demand, Air France has begun to using two class 131 seat Airbus A318-100 and two class 143 seat Airbus A319 aircraft on some of their Cork to Paris-Charles De Gaulle flights on Fridays and Saturdays.
Air France is gradually replacing its existing five Airbus A318s and nine A319s as well as several Airbus A320s aircraft with the two class 148 seat Airbus A220-300. The aircraft delivers a cost reduction per seat of 10%, a 25% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions and a 50% reduced noise footprint compared to pervious generation aircraft . Air France has 60 Airbus A220-300 on order with 32 delivered to date, deliveries are scheduled to continue until the end of 2025.
