African carrier Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of its 33rd DHC8-402 through Dublin on delivery overnighting on 3rd March. The aircraft ET-AYG msn 4626 using callsign ‘ETH9201’ arrived Dublin 1725 local from Keflavik (KEF) departing next morning at 0618 local to Rome (FCO) and Cairo (CAI) to overnight arriving at its home base in Addis Ababa (ADD) on 5th March.
The aircraft entered service on 8th March operating from its Addis Ababa (ADD) base to Bahir Dar (BJR) as ETH188/9 and Dessie (DSE) as ETH166/7.
De Havilland Aircraft of Canada marked the delivery of the aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines tweeting a video of its rollout and first flight.
Ethiopian Airlines first welcomed the Dash 8-402 aircraft into its fleet in March 2010. The aircraft can operate in -54°C to +50°C environments, making it well suited to the Ethiopian Airlines operations in the Ethiopian Highlands, known as the “network builder” due to its short take-off and landing capabilities and efficient regional operations.
