In an LinkedIn Post Cork Airport has revised its passenger projections for the year 2022 upwards, from 1.8 million passengers to 2.1 million passengers. This is on the back of strong demand for international travel and with a number of recent new route announcements by Ryanair. It is anticipated that Cork Airport will be the first state airport to make a full recovery to pre-pandemic passenger traffic.
Cork Airport stated its continually engaged with both existing airlines and prospective airlines, with a view to consolidating, improving and enhancing the connectivity from Cork Airport.
The daa announced over 2.8 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in June, reaching 88% of the passenger numbers seen pre-pandemic in June 2019. Almost 8 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport between April and June of 2022.
Strong growth reported in all market segments – Domestic (13,000) , Europe (1.4 million), UK (720,000) Middle East (65,000) and North America (400,000).
Air Canada suspended Vancouver to Delhi operating via Dublin as technical stop effective from 2 June.
Croatia Airlines launched a new route from Dublin to Spilt operating three times weekly using Airbus A319/320 aircraft from 12 June.
Egyptair launched its new Dublin to Cairo route four times weekly using Airbus A320neo aircraft on 2nd June. The new route was formally inaugured on 29th June with a special gate event.
Emerald Airlines, exclusive operator of Aer Lingus Regional, launched a new weekly Saturday seasonal service between Dublin and Jersey using ATR72-600 aircraft until 27th August.
